Attractions in Omaha
Joslyn Art Museum
The beautiful Art Deco Joslyn Art Museum is the largest of its kind in Nebraska. It houses a great collection of Renaissance and 19th- and 20th-century American and European art. Opened in 1931, it was designed as a cultural centre for the community, a function it continues to this day with special exhibitions, events and concerts.
Strategic Air & Space Museum
Situated midway between Omaha and Lincoln, this fascinating, state-of-the-art museum boasts two massive hangars housing more than 30 aircraft, 20 missiles and numerous interactive displays such as a jolting ride on the real 'Desert Storm' flight simulator - fun if you can handle waiting for Boy Scouts to finish their turn.
Great Plains Black Museum
Housed in a landmark 1907 building, the Great Plains Black Museum recounts the role of African Americans in the West via photos, film, artifacts and music, a role left out of most representations of the Old West. It seems appropriate in the town where African American leader Malcolm X was born in 1925.
